Samsung Electronics Co. has been named the most loved brand in Russia for the eighth year in a row, a market researcher said Friday.

In the survey carried out by Russia's Online Market Intelligence (OMI), Samsung Electronics garnered 18.3 percent of support from 1,500 respondents living in the country's cities with over 1 million people.

Germany's fashion brand Adidas AG followed with 11.1 percent, with U.S.-based Nike Inc. placing third at 9.6 percent.

South Korean tech giant's archrival Apple Inc. came in at the fourth spot with 9.6 percent and Japanese tech giant Sony Corp. trailed at 7.2 percent.

LG Electronics Inc., Samsung's smaller South Korean competitor, won 4.6 percent for eighth place, falling a notch from last year.

Samsung has been at the top of the pile in the survey among leading businesses since 2011.

In the appliances and smartphone segments, Samsung has taken the leading spot since 2009 and 2013, respectively.

Samsung has been making various social contributions in Russia in order to bolster its brand reputation in the country.

The company has been sponsoring the Yasnaya Polyana Literary Award since 2003, and has been engaging in other cultural and sports projects. (Yonhap)
