South Korean medical device manufacturer Hans Biomed Corp. said on Oct. 18, 2018 it plans to enter the global market with the country's first indigenous silicone gel-filled breast implants for women.

Bella Gel -- first developed in 2008 for breast augmentation and reconstruction -- was approved in 2012 for domestic sales by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and has since become the first Asian product authorized in Europe for sales.

The company did not provide sales figures for South Korea.

The company said it plans to target the overseas market with its latest micro-textured breast implants, Bella Gel Micro, which was locally launched in Aug. 2017.

Hans Biomed said it is seeking sales approval in China and plans to enter the United States in 2023. (Yonhap)
