- Fund delivered to the Indonesian Red Cross Society

Samsung Electronics Co. on Oct. 16, 2018 said it sent US$600,000 to help in the recovery from the recent earthquake that devastated parts of Indonesia.

The move came after Indonesia's Sulawesi Island was hit hard by a 7.5-magnitude quake and ensuing tsunami late last month.

Samsung said the fund was delivered to the Indonesian Red Cross Society to assist in the rebuilding of the region and support victims in their time of need.

The company also plans to open Samsung Care Center in the region, where residents can receive food or do laundry, and also provide free repairs for damaged home appliances.

Samsung earlier donated $200,000 in July for Lombok, another Indonesian island which was struck by an earthquake.(Yonhap)
