E-Mart Inc., South Korea's leading discount store chain operator, said Monday it will participate in international trade shows to promote its private label food products as it moves to expand its overseas market presence.

Over 2,500 firms from 70 countries will take part in the annual event organized by the Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA), which represents more than 4,000 member manufacturers around the world.

E-Mart also plans to participate in a private label trade show to be held in Chicago in November, it said.

The company said it is strengthening its foundation to grow into a global foods firm by exporting its private label products to such overseas destinations as Hong Kong and the United States. (Yonhap)
